Maintenance items can include removing and reinstalling mantles when needed, cleaning the glass lens and/or replacing it, if it accidentally gets broken. Mantles are quite easy to replace now that they come with wire clips to hold them in place rather than having to tie them on with string.
When using Coleman lanterns always be sure to sit them on a stable base, such as a picnic table or hang them from a Shepard’s hook. Actually Shepard’s hooks will get your Coleman lanterns up higher to spread the light further. Also a good point to remember about a hanging lantern…the handle will get hot because heat travels up.
