When preparing to cook over a campfire, grill, or camping stove, there are items of camping cookware that will make the job much easier. You’ll be hailed as the “outdoor chief chef”; well alright, at least camping cookware will make the job easier.  So when, “preparing”, sit down and make a menu of the meals you would like to make.  From this list begin thinking of how you will prepare them.  For example, barbeque on the grill or campfire, fry, deep fat fry, stew or soup, etc.  From this you now have a better idea of the camping cookware you will need to pack.
Using the examples above, camping cookware that obviously you’ll have to have access to would be a grill or campfire ring.  Remember to take the charcoal, lighter fluid and lighter.  You will probably want to pack a skillet to fry in on the camping stove and perhaps a deep fat fryer for larger items. If there’s a good size group you’re cooking for, pack a kettle or pot for your stew or soup and smaller pots for heating your coffee or water.  Waking up to the smell of a campfire and listening to the morning wakeup is incredible!

So far on your list of camping cookware, you might have a grill, camping stove, skillets, deep fat fryer, kettle and/or a soup pot.  Other camping cookware items might include spatulas, tongs, a ladle, long handled forks, stirring spoons and knives.  Perhaps a grill plate to set over the campfire to cook on or maybe a tri-pod to hang your kettle over the campfire would be useful camping cookware to think about packing.

We have talked about some of the camping cookware you could list to prepare your meals, but how about before and after?  Won’t you need something to keep you breakfast meats, eggs, milk, pop, beer, etc. cold and how about leftovers?  Yeah, you got it!  Don’t forget to put the cooler and ice on the list.

Other items that might not be camping cookware, but you will want to have on your list to be sure to take are eating utensils such as plates, forks, spoons, knives, cups and/or glasses.  All those items you’ll want to have to eat those marvelous morsels that you have prepared.
Camping cookware may not be the most exciting topic to think about, but when you’re away from home getting ready to make your meal in the great outdoors, let’s say hot, tasty pancakes and you discover you forgot a spatula; you’ll be glad you took the time to prepare.  Camping cookware is as important as remembering the TOILET PAPER!  Have fun getting ready and enjoy your adventure in the great outdoors!
